Pyramids

Another pyramid set of pull-ups earlier this evening. This time shortening the rests to 30 seconds to a minute for sets 1-3 and 2 minutes for sets 4-5-4. With one delay rest I was able to get to set 5 without any assistance. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep this up.

I’ve also added a pyramid of 10 for pushups. Pyramid of 10 gives me a total of 100 pushups. That’s a considerable amount from the 3×15 I did a week ago.

This on top of my Zwift workout this morning:

Something new….

It’s been 1 year, 9 months 12 days since my last post….

The new year has been busy, the holiday season went by in blur. Things at work are starting to ramp up. Starting to get back into my fitness routine with biking, skating on the weekend and with my core workouts during the week.

I’ll try to post more this year. Starting now

I’ve been doing pull ups and push ups for almost 5 days a week since September. Back in September I could barely do one. Today, I just completed my first pyramid set.

My rep is as follows: 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1. Total of 25

Previous to this I was doing 3 sets of 5 with 2 minutes rest in between in each.

I’m glad I was able to get through the pyramid, but needed assistance in sets 4-5-4-3-1.

Currently at:
162lbs
19.2% body fat
26.5 BMI

back in the saddle

Back in the saddle after two days off.  Trying to get back into the rhythm of things.  Was a little concerned about this being too hard, but that was hardly the case.  I was able to hit all my power targets, despite not hitting all the cadence recommendations.

Staying healthy and fit

I’ve been on a health kick lately… food-wise.  I’ve reduced the number of times I buy lunch and started cooking more at home and using non-GMO foods when possible.  I’ve recently started drinking Hemp Protein, which looks really beneficial on the label.  Lots of good information on the nutrition and health benefits, but it just seems a bit to grainy for my taste.  So when I finally finished the container, I bought the Vega Essentials Shake, which has 20g of plant based protein, 3 servings of greens, 25% vitamins & minerals, 16% fiber, 1g of Omega-3 and 130 calories.  So this seems to hit the sweet spot I was looking for.  However, I’d like to compare this with there Vega One product when I’m done with it.

So hopefully, this would help round out my quest to be more healthy.  I’m currently taking 2-4 tbls of Apple Cider Vinegar 2x daily.  One in the morning and one before bed.  Also replaced white rice for black rice.  With black rice, there’s lots of things online praising it’s health benefits.  An excerpt from https://draxe.com/forbidden-rice/ says the following: “Not only is it the type of rice that is richest in powerful disease-fighting antioxidants, but it also contains dietary fiber, anti-inflammatory properties, and has the ability to help stop the development of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and even weight gain.”  As far as I can tell, it keep me regular.

Of course having a healthy lifestyle includes a regular exercise regimen.  Which for me is cycling 3-6 times a week.  12-20 miles on the weekday and anywhere from 35-60 on the weekends.

Lots of people, mostly family, say to me “Oh, why are you on a diet?”  I reply to them, “This isn’t a diet, this is a lifestyle”.  To me, being on a diet means eating bland tasting food and nearly starving yourself.  If you make it a lifestyle, you can always have good tasting food that is healthy, healing and tastes great.

Sufferfest Angels

Back on the trainer.  Fourth time using the Sufferfest App.  I still like the TrainerRoad/Sufferfest combo.  Not sure which I’ll stick with.  Anyway, workout was good, thought it was a bit easy until the last “climb” trying to maintain the recommended cadence was a bit tough, but made it through.

Decides to go go out for a run instead of waiting for a treadmill/ elliptical or bike machine. It wasn’t so cold out and by the time I got warmed up I wouldn’t feel not.  I’m going to be indoors most of the day anyway so I figure why not. It was just a bit overcast and some drizzle.
