Liam’s Sick

I got home last night around 7:30pm to find out that Liam had 100 degree fever. Throughout the night he was restless. He refused to eat and drink his milk. We gave him acetometophin and wiped his head down with a cool towel. His head was really hot. When Linette got home from work she gave him a full bath to see if his temperature would go down.  It only helped a little. At the same time Roslyn was having hard time sleeping.  This made the situation more difficult to deal with.

At about 3am, everyone was finally asleep.

By morning Liam’s temperature went up to 104.  We then made the decision to bring him to the ER at Englewood Hospital.

Official temperature was 103.1F.

The Dr. took some blood to run so me tests.  The tests came back and it turned out that he has a high white blood cell count.  This just means that he his fighting an infection.  They also want to take a urine sample, which isn’t proving to be easy.

After they get the urine sample, he’ll get some antibiotics.

Until then, we’re waiting for Liam to pee.

@HuffingtonPost: WOW: The MASSIVE U.S. snowstorm as seen from space http://huff.to/gDDXSj Shared via Tweetcaster

This is anothee major snowstorm.  Not only is th is affecting NY/NJ but 30 other states from Maine to Colorado down as far as Texas.  Chicago is expected to get 2 feet of snow or more. This area so supposed to experience ice accumulations as much as 1/2 inch.

I can’t recall ever being in an ice storm warning.

Coming home today wasn’t as bad as last night where it took nearly 2 hours to get home. I’m guessing people left early today to avoid a messy evening commute.

In anycase it’s really cold tonight with the storm starting around midnight.  For anyone travelling tonight, especially my wife, please becareful.

Plowed streets

As my twitter post says, NJ, at least Teaneck and Ridgefield Park, have done a good job of clearing the streets.  NYC, SoHo area, not so great. As of yesterday, there was snow on the streets and slush nearly everywhere.  The corners of crosswalks was like crossing a moat of mini icebergs.  Very difficult to walk.  In the somewhat plowed streets, there was a motorcycle that was buried in a pile of plowed snow, see the pic below.  Anyway, just way too much snow this year, and winter season isn’t half over.image

Busy day today

Today started with NJ Transit canceling the buses this morning.  So today was essentially a work from home day.  Made a fresh cup of coffee, docked my laptop and started working, this was at about 7:30am.  By 8:30 or so went out to starting plowing, shoveling, and cleaning up the Traverse so Linette could get to work today.  Didn’t get back inside until about 11:30am, and by then I was soar.  The snow was wet and heavy so the shoveling was tougher than I thought.

Back online, performed some maintenance tasks and removed mailboxes from people that have left the company. I’ve also done some more research on managing Android devices in an enterprise environment.

At about 3pm I was juggling work and taking care of the kids. at 4pm it was just watching the kids because Liam is just climbing on top of the couch and almost onto the TV stand.  Might have to look into rearranging the furniture.

9:51pm and the kids are asleep.  Attempting to start reading again.

Good night all.

More Wintry Weather

More snow again tonight. 3rd Snowstorm this season. I hope Linette gets home safe tonight.

10 more days

10 more days till Christmas! This we’re celebrating at my uncle’s place in Briarwood! This is the kiddies’ 2nd Christmas. So exciting, this time they’ll be able to walk and stroll around.

This holiday season I have so much to be grateful and thankful for.

title change

I felt it necessary to change the title of my blog. The old title no longer reflect my new life.

Long Weekend Coming to an End

The long Thanksgiving weekend is now over, and there’s so much to be thankful for.  First off I’m very thankful for my wonderful, for she has given me two wonderful children.  I am also for my family, both in laws and my own.  Without both of them raising Roslyn and Liam would be very difficult.  A special thank you goes out to my Mom who has sacrificed a year of her life to help raise Roslyn and Liam in their year.  I wish there was something Linette and I can say or do that expresses our gratitude.

Actual Thanksgiving was quite some fun, woke up at 5 am to get prep the turkey for smoking. The turkey was in the bullet by 6:30am and was done at about 1:30pm.  Just as last year, the turkey looked burnt on the outside, but as I told our guests, it tastes better than it looks. From the comments I got through the night, it was just that.  Although, I think the hickory over powered the cherry wood.  All in all, good food, family, and lots of fun was had.

Friday we got the tree up.  Linette, did most of the work though, she always seems to be in a zone with all that, so I just help out when I can.

Saturday, Randy and Jennie came over to see the kids, which was nice.  Unfortunately, they weren’t able to stay long.  Afterwards though we went to my Auntie Angie’s place for Thanksgiving dinner.  It was nice to see my family, especially my grandmother.  Roslyn and Liam did most of the entertaining, with the walking and touching everything it was a delight to watch.  Roslyn also did her first puckered kiss on my Auntie Angie, which Mariel caught on camera.  That was a special moment indeed.

Now that Christmas season is in full swing, its time to look for gifts for family.

Upgrades!

After some research on the internets, I finally got my WordPress blog to automatically update itself. FINALLY!
In other upgrade news, my nook got the 1.5 update which now does syncing to all nook devices and software. Meaning, I can leave the actually nook at home and use my Vibrant to read on my commute, and when I get home, I can pick up where I left off when I switch to my nook. geeky coolness!

Holiday Season!

Holiday Season is literally just around the corner. So excited!
