At the time of this writing, we’re on a return flight from Fort Myers Beach, FL from a wedding.  This was also our first full weekend away from the kids.  Didn’t realize how much we missed them.  We caught ourselves constantly saying, “I miss the kids”, or “we should’ve brought them”.  We kept saying, the next time we come down here, we’re going to bring them.

Fort Myers Beach is a beautiful area.  Everything is so calm and relaxing.  The beach has white sand, clear warm water, and the air was crisp and clean.  The pool was like any other pool, but being away from everyday life was something we both needed, even if it was for just a short while.  I think this time away gave us some time refocus and clear our heads.

We spent Friday afternoon sleeping. It was really nice to actually have some sleep without being woken up by the sound of cries.  After our afternoon nap, we went to the pool for a bit.  After an hour or so we went for a walk along the beach.  That was really nice, it was something that we haven’t done since Linette got back from St. Kitts over 7 years ago.  It was really sweet.  I also got som nice photos of the beach at sunset.

We spent most of Saturday pool side, Linette got a tan and I got burnt 🙁

Sharon and Brett’s wedding was really fun and down to earth. The wedding overall was very relaxed and laid back.  The wedding took place on the beach in front of the Pink Shell Resort.  What threw me off was a sign that said “Shoes Optional”.  The ceremony was short and simple, will the Sharon and Brett trying to say their own vows.  I say try because each of them choked, Brett getting more choked up than her.  At least Sharon had notes on her.

Reeption was great as well, however it was really hot and I think Linette and I got more of a tan. We met some really friendly people at our table from different parts if the country.  There was Rob and Karen from Colorado, Rob and his wife from Alaska, and Bob and his wife.  Basically a table full of Rob’s.  Only difference was Bob and Rob are veterans from the Air Force, and Rob from Alaska is currently an active pilot as a Major.  It was nice to hear other people’s opinion especially when it comes to politics.  I’ll just Linette and I were the only democrats.

Afternoon was really hot, that is until the heavy rains came.  That is when the party was moved into the alcove in the parking garage.  I thought it was funny that we were celebrating a wedding in a parking garage.  You know what though, that is in line with how Sharon is, I truly feel that she wouldn’t want it any other way.

Congratulations to Sharon and Brett!
